Pastors Word

ISAIAH 61:3b

“Rename them “Oaks of Righteousness” planted by GOD to display his glory.” (Msg)

You were planned for God’s pleasure. The moment you were born into the world, God was there as an unseen witness, smiling at your birth. He wanted you alive, and your arrival gave him great pleasure. God did not need to create you, but he chose to create you for his enjoyment. You exist for his benefit, his glory, his purpose, and his delight.

In Noah’s day, the entire world had become morally bankrupt. Everyone lived for their own pleasure, not God’s.  God couldn’t find anyone on earth interested in pleasing him, so he was grieved and regretted making man. But there was one man who made God smile. The Bible says, “But Noah was different. God liked what he saw in Noah.” (Gen. 6:8). Because Noah brought pleasure to God, you and I are alive today. From his life we learn the following:

  1. God smiles when we love him supremely
  2. God smiles when we trust him completely
  3. God smiles when we obey him wholeheartedly
  4. God smiles when we praise and thank him continually
  5. God smiles when we use our abilities

God is looking for people like Noah in the twenty-first century- people willing to live for the pleasure of God. “The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who are wise, who want to please God” (Ps.14:2).

Will you make pleasing God the goal of your life? There is nothing that God won’t do for the person totally absorbed with this goal.

Arise and Shine
